<p>A new meetup has been scheduled in San Francisco.  Denis Lussier will be visiting, and will <a href="http://www.meetup.com/postgresql-1/events/226169164/">present about Foreign Data Wrappers on November 5th</a>.  This meetup is sponsored by <strong>Rackspace</strong>.</p>

<p>This will be followed two weeks later by <a href="http://www.pgconfsv.com/">pgConf Silicon Valley</a>, for which registration is still open.  Register now!</p>

<p>Immediately following pgConfSV, on Nov. 19, <a href="http://www.meetup.com/postgresql-1/events/224773004/">two speakers are staying over to present in Palo Alto</a>, at the offices of analytics software vendor Tableau.  Their staff will also be presenting on how to use Tableau with PostgreSQL.</p>

This talk will cover how to read EXPLAIN and EXPLAIN ANALYZE, and is aimed at developers and new DBAs.  Pandora staff will also do a lightning talk.</p>

<p>On November 17th and 18th is <a href="http://www.pgconfsv.com/">pgConfSV</a>.  Registration is open and the <a href="http://www.pgconfsv.com/program/schedule">full schedule is up</a>.  Be there!</p>

<p>On November 19th, the day after pgConfSV, <a href="http://www.meetup.com/postgresql-1/events/224773004/">Tableau is hosting an extended meetup</a> which will cover using Tableau with PostgreSQL, Joe Conway on PL/R, and Álvaro Hernández Tortosa on Logical Decoding.  This meetup will be in Palo Alto, and is expected to fill up very soon.</p>

<p>We are still looking to schedule a meetup in the city of San Francisco for late October or early November, but need a speaker for it. <p>In the wake of DockerCon, the <a href="http://www.meetup.com/postgresql-1/events/223426309/">July meetup in San Francisco</a> will be all about Linux Containers:</p>

<li>Chris Winslett of Compose.io will present <a href="https://www.compose.io/articles/high-availability-for-postgresql-batteries-not-included/">Governor</a>, an auto-failover system for managing a cluster of PostgreSQL replicas.</li>
<li>Madhuri Yechuri of ClusterHQ will explain <a href="https://github.com/ClusterHQ/flocker">Flocker</a>, which uses the brand-new plugin interface for Docker in order to support volume management and data migration for containers.</li>
</ul>

<p>If you're not familiar with all of this containerish stuff, Josh Berkus will do a 5-minute primer on using Postgres with Docker at the beginning of the session.  Hosted by Salesforce.com in their new Rincon Cafe.</p>
